One thing worth noting is the “high quality engine” feature. In other words, I want the developer of WDRP to incorporate the ability to customize values with the ability to select values from a drop down menu. I really do like this ability to customize the bitrate and video resolution but I feel it would be very handy if users have the ability to select predetermined values from some sort of drop down menu and then customize them if they feel the need. Currently, users are allowed to manually select them by typing in the values (except for device specific settings “video resolution” is predetermined). One area that I believe WDRP can improve on is how selection of “Video Quality” and “Video Resolution” is made. These options are very handy because they allow the user to maintain either the original resolution of the DVD so the viewing experience does not deteriorate, or if the original resolution does need to be changed, the aspect ratio can be held constant so the output video does not look all funky. One thing I really like about WDRP is it has options to “keep original resolution” and “keep original aspect ratio” (you won’t get “keep original resolution” for the device specific settings for obvious reasons). Once you have selected which format you want, you have the ability to customize output video settings: VOB is created (this is a good thing because it allows for actual backups that preserve DVD quality 100%). Yes under the “To MPEG” tab users can select DVD or SVCD or VCD as the output format/profile. These is one correct, rather clarification, to be made to the above chart. These are all the output formats/profiles supported: Take note that some tabs are not output formats but rather output “profiles” such as iPod. Once the title selection and customization has been finished, users need to select what output format they want to rip the DVD to this is done by selecting the tab associated with the output format you desire. Take note of the fact the audio, subtitle, and start/end time features I just mentioned are customizable per title so if you are ripping more than one title, you can change the options for each one and set them differently if you will.

However this “preview box” is not much of a preview because it works via manual frame by frame advancement – it doesn’t actually play the video.
